Jeff Sauer, CPA, has an extensive accounting and tax background. Practicing since 1979, he serves clients in a variety of industries including real estate, service industries, wholesale and light manufacturing. His clients include individuals, corporations, S-Corporations, partnership, estate and trusts. He also has expertise in the creation and administration of ESOP’s. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa.
Cindy Koltnow has been with us since 2011. Before joining us, she was in the finance group at the Tennessee Valley Authority and Ingenix (a division of United Health Group). Cindy prepares individuals’ returns, assists with business return preparation, works on the firm administration and is our resident Excel whiz. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.
Carrie Melsen, CPA (inactive), joined our team in 2018. She manages the accounting needs of our business and various clients. Prior to joining us, Carrie graduated from the College of St. Benedict with an accounting degree and began her career with Deloitte in August 2005. In 2010, she left public accounting to pursue a tax manager role at Regis Corporation. After two years as a manager, she moved into a director role overseeing the company’s SEC reporting for income taxes and corporate tax compliance. In 2015, Carrie left Regis Corporation in to be a full-time mom until she decided to join our team on a part-time basis.
Ekta Chopra joined our team in 2019. She prepares individuals’ returns and assists with business returns.
Tara Dietenberger joined our team in 2019. Tara graduated from the College of St. Benedict and began her accounting career in September 2005 as an external auditor for Deloitte. In 2007, she left public accounting to take a role as a senior financial analyst in external reporting at Ameriprise Financial, Inc. After two years as a senior analyst, she moved into a role as manager of external reporting, overseeing SEC reporting for an Ameriprise subsidiary. In 2015, she left Ameriprise to take a role at Sherman Associates, Inc., a property development and management company, supervising their financial reporting. With a growing family, she made the decision to retire from full time accounting in May of 2016. She has since returned as a contractor to help with transitions at Sherman Associates, and she has taken on some virtual administrative and billing work for a small law firm in Minneapolis.
Melissa Kaiser, CPA (inactive) joined us in 2019. She manages the accounting needs of various JJS clients. Melissa graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a degree in accounting and started her career in accounting at Deloitte as an external auditor in September 2005. She left Deloitte in 2007 to accept a role with Best Buy Co., Inc. in their Corporate Accounting group. She held two other Senior Accounting Analyst positions at Best Buy before leaving in 2012 for a role with Regis Corporation. At Regis, she worked on the Consolidations team, and as Finance Project Manager she led the work to implement a new consolidations system. In 2019 she made the decision to scale back to a part-time role at Regis, in order spend more time with her young family. She continues in this capacity at Regis while joining our team on a part-time basis.
Nicole Zeches has been with us since 2019. She assists with the daily clerical duties of the office and assists with QuickBooks needs. Nicole graduated from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota with a degree in Marketing and a Psychology minor. She started her career in business at Best Buy Corporate HQ in June 2000 where she partnered with business teams on improving their use of retail space, lead training and proficiency for the department, and supervised a small team of employees. She left Best Buy in 2012 to be a stay-at-home Mom of her twin children. She is thrilled to join the team now that her twins are in school.
Theresa Todd joined us in 2019 and works primarily on business returns. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Columbia College. In 2002, she obtained her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Webster’s University. She also obtained a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Theresa is currently a CPA exam candidate and hopes pass all sections in the near future. Theresa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Accountants, American Accounting Association, and the National Association of Tax Professionals. She served as Treasurer on the board of Spring Valley Rotary Club. She is a Certified QuickBooks Online Advanced Pro-Advisor. Prior to beginning her work in public accounting, Theresa worked in private accounting and approximately 30 years of experience in financial accounting, payroll preparation, and individual and corporate tax preparation.
